Life on a ship
Let me introduce myself
Welcome to my first story. My name is Catherine, and I am the Ship to Shore Chef. I have sailed on cargo ships for 20 years and have been sharing my stories from ship and shore for the past five years. I have written two cookbooks and a children’s book. I mentioned to a friend that I was going to start writing a mini e-magazine with more stories, recipes, and videos. She suggested that I write to you on Substack. I downloaded the app and thought it was going to be fun. I am inviting my loyal Facebook community to follow me here and subscribe. I look forward to new followers joining our community of ship and food lovers. I love hearing from people, and over the last few years I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of them in person at book signings and meet-and-greets. You will hear from me a few times a week, and I like to finish the week with a Sunday story that you can enjoy with your morning coffee or during an afternoon break. I am including a welcome video. If you have been following me, you may recognize this video; I thought I would share it here for new visitors. Below the video, I will share the Sunday story I posted on Facebook today.
Have a great day, and let’s keep in touch.
P.S. In my stories,
I often refer to Lorraine, and it has been a long-standing tradition to include (my sister and best friend) after her name. Writing those words behind her name gives me a moment to remember how lucky I am to have her by my side, enjoying all life has to offer.
Catherine
I am currently at home and will join my next ship, the Atlantic Huron mid-November.
I will post my story that I shared on Facebook earlier today in a separate post.
See you soon.

I'm glad you’re here, too! Looking forward to virtually sailing with you on the Atlantic Huron. Maybe a cheerleader wave in Port Huron??
So glad you're here!
